Dude, I'm Not German

Merry Christmas or should I say feliz navidad!! I hope everyone had a great Christmas and ate some great food. I can assure you all that I sure did! We spent Christmas Eve cooking tons of cookies and brownies to deliver to people who needed some love this Christmas and then we headed to a family in our ward's house for dinner and we COOKED. We grilled like four types of meat, chipa guazu, sopa paraguaya, potato salad, fruit salad, apple pie, more brownies, and other goodies! It was all so good but dang, I'm still full! 

• We are teaching a girl named Rocio and she is awesome
• We had exchanges with the hermanas from Palma Loma and I got to be comps with Hermana Brown (my comp from CCM) for the day
• Worked real hard this week
• We have two zone conferences next week so we had to do a lot of planning and preparing
• Went to Asuncion and it was fun to be back in my old      stomping grounds
• Yesterday Hermana Gebs and I hopped off a bus... but Hermana Peralta.. the bus took off with her still on it and we had to chase it down for like three blocks 
• An Uber driver said my Spanish was good #swag
• I saw a Toucan flying around in the wild #crazy
• It was 104 for three days in a row, but now it's getting cold, it's only 102 today!!
• My family sent me a video for Christmas "all I want for christmas is you" it was cute and I love my family

This Christmas was obviously very different, but it was such an amazing experience. I was able to really focus in on the true purpose of Christmas. I grew in appreciation for my Savior this Christmas. I was able to really think about all that He did for us, all that He does for us, and all that He will do for us. I am so grateful for Jesus Christ and I just want to remind you all that He loves you. That you are not alone. Not for one second. Sheppards are being sent your way, wise men are bringing gifts, and angels are spreading the news. Jesus Christ isn't in Bethlehem this Christmas, He is with you.

Howdy from Luque! Marumburé is beautiful and so much fun! I loved Moroni and I miss it a lot, but I'm excited for what's in store for me in this area!

I am in another trio and it has been quite the adjustment but we are still working hard and having a good time. Maramburé is huge, like I can't stress that enough, it's hugggeee!! We are walking a lot, and sweating a whole lot more! Summer is starting to set in here, so the past week we've been in the high 90s-100s and all the locals say - just wait till January!!  #pray4quincee!

The ward here is really big and super willing to help us en la obra so that's awesome! There are some really amazing people we are teaching here so I'm stoked about that as well! Big things in store... I can feel it

• Said goodbyes to Hermana Roman and Castro and headed solo to the mission office
• Marambure is only like 40 minutes away from Asuncion but its like a different world
• There's so much red sand here
• We have lunches with members almost everyday and it's soo good but soo bad #foodcoma
• My new comps: Hermana Gebs is from Wyoming and Hermana Peralta is from Paraguay
• We are teaching this great couple named Nuri and Richard and they've come to church twice!!
• We had a ward activity in a campsite called Campo Moroni and it was super fun, and very hot a sweaty of course
• Played soccer with all the men from our ward and I almost died
• Christmas is this weekend, what the heck
• A little girl here drew me and it was so cute
• Had intercambios and I headed to Itagua with Hermana Cox- she's great
• Feeling a little overwhelmed with how fast time is going by and all the responsibilities I have, but it's okay we still vibin'

I have spent a lot of time these past few weeks on my knees and it's amazing to see how God really does answer prayers. My patience has grown. My heart has changed. I have a long way to go, but the Lord is answering my prayers and helping me along the way. I have also been able to work on my own personal ability to understand and listen to the spirit. 

1 Kings 19:11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake

12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

My world is a little chaotic right now.  It feels like there are lots of things going on that are out of my control, but if I take a minute and focus on that still small voice, instead of the fires and winds, He will guide me and show me what I need to do.

But They're Fanatics

What's up everyone!!

It's been a hot minute and I apologize for being MIA- it's been a lil crazy! We've had a full past couple of weeks. We are working our butts off and I am tired but I can sleep when I'm dead!

I am not going to lie, the mission isn't always rainbows and sunflowers. After having a lot of success, we were given a real nice left hook that we didn't see coming. People stopped meeting with us, some people moved, and we just were kind of down in the dumps. As missionaries, it can be really hard to not take these things personal. It's hard to not ask yourself what did I do wrong, what more could I have done, why is this happening to us... I was able to realize that it's not what I was doing, but what others were doing. We all have our own agency and we can use it how we want. It really sucks when people use their agency to do things you know will hurt them, but you can find comfort in the fact that you know you did everything you could. 

I was pretty sad, but I have also felt a lot of divine  help these past weeks. When I've been down in the dumps, God has lifted me up, and helped me to keep chugging along. Not just keep chugging, but He has helped me to work hard and do it with a good attitude.  Yes there are hard days in the mission, but I wouldn't trade this experience for anything. The good outweighs the bad. No doubt!

• Got transfer calls!! Tomorrow morning I'm heading to Marambure in Luque
• Sad to leave Hermana Roman and mija Hermana Castro
• We are still teaching Carlos and he's doing great
• Played handball as a district and it was 10/10 would recommend
• Had to speak in front of the leadership of our mission about Facebook and I had maybe a minute to prepare myself. Yikes!
• Had probably one of my craziest lessons where a religious dude just shouted at us and told us that we are going to hell #fun
• Lots of great missionaries ended their missions this transfer and I am super sad about it
• Held a plank for 4 minutes #letsgooo
• I got a haircut and said just a trim and the lady cut like 5 inches
• I love Christmas music
• Got some great emails from great people 
• Thanks to all those who write:) I really appreciate it
