Che vare'a hermanos y hermanas!
Wow, it's getting HOT here! And to top it off
its big time smoky from all the fires surrounding the area! (California is not the only place with fires right now.) Despite the heat
we were still working hard and walking a tonnnn so yeah this week is sponsored
by Gatorade!
This week was a wee bit sad over here in
Moroni. We had to stop teaching a few people that just were not progressing,
which is always a bummer. And we also got “broken up with” by one lady who was
showing a lot of potential- even bigger bummer!
Though I'm sad to see a lot of people go this
week, I think it will be good for us. We now need people to teach, which means
we need to work even harder to find them. There are people looking for joy and
hope, and this message we share can bring joy and hope to them. So look out Barrio
Jara, we're coming for ya!
- Giovanni got to go to the
temple!!!!
- Ricardo, that super awesome dude
who got baptized in Loma Pyta, invited us to have lunch with him! It was
so fun to see him again!
- ^^ Ricardo knows I love lasagna so
he made us some!
- Yogurt comes in a bag here and its thin like milk
- My mission president is a spiritual
giant and so wise. I am #blessed to have him
- I love being a missionary
- I'm getting some wild shoe tan
lines (sorry no feet pics attached)
- I got spat on by a child
- Acai is 10/10 usually but its 20/10
in this weather
Just a reminder to trust in the Lord, He is there for you and he
will strengthen you:)
2 Timothy 4:17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and
strengthened me.
Te Amo,
Hermana Carter
Hi All-
Mama Carter here. Quincee didn't write about this, and she almost wasn't planning to tell her family about it either- but I asked her if I could share because- holy cow- this happened.
So she and her companion got robbed at gunpoint on Saturday night!! They were walking home on a busy street in a "safe" area when two men on a motorcycle stopped next to them. One man got off, got very close to them and said "Dame tu celuar". It took a bit for Quincee to realize what was happening. The man grabbed her companions bag off her shoulder and tried to grab Quincee's bag. Q was wearing it cross body so it didn't come off. Quincee was stalling, claiming "no habla! no entiendo" over and over because she didn't want to give up her bag. She wasn't worried about her phone, but she was worried about the keys she had in the bag. Keys to their apartment, the chapel, the temple grounds, and the only set of keys in the area to the family history center. People on the busy street realized what was happening, but only yelled "leave them alone" rather than coming over. As Quincee stalled longer the man pushed the gun into her stomach. She took off and offered up her nametag (what?!?!), but instead of taking the tag the man swiped her Hydroflask out of her hands and left on the motorcycle. We are so grateful they were unharmed and the girls somehow found humor in the situation and are doing just fine. Quincee promises to give them the phone, without hesitation, in the future (which hopefully there won't be as this was the first robbery with a gun in the mission).
