So We Are Mom's Now??

Hola Everyone!

Well this week we gave birth to a beautiful little Chilena girl! On Tuesday we went to the mission office to pick up our greenie, still not knowing who she was or where she was from! It was *ahhh* painful having to wait but wow I am so happy with our little surprise! She really is just the best and is so prepared to be a missionary!

  • Rasta came to church again so we are super stoked about that
  • Kavey is 11 and couldn't get baptised because her dad said no but he changed his mind and she is gonna get baptized next month!!
  • Somebody stole my alfajores and that's just messed up
  • Rosa, remember her, well she called us and said she wanted to be baptised...
  • We had a huge devotional with 4 other zones and it was so awesome!
  • ^^learned a ton and feeling pumped
  • It rained a lot and then it was super hot- paraguay weather is loco
  • We had a noche de hogar with Famila Escobar and it was great
  • Hermana Vargas made us brownies that actually tasted like brownies and not like chocolate cake. I love her.
  • Had to say goodbye to my bff Elder Childs and that was sad. He didn't die or anything, just got transferred.

This week in church we had some really great talks that I wanted to share. Both were about adversity and the hard times that everyone goes through. And that's the thing, everyone goes through tough times, we can't prevent these situations but we do have a way to alleviate these burdens. There is someone who is there with you and someone who understands you. He knows you "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee" Jeremiah 1:5

Te amo,

Hermana Carter

Well Who Woulda Thunk

What is up everyone! Another week down what the what!?! The time passes so weird here I really can't explain it. At times it's crazy fast, others, a day can feel like years! But another great week in PY. We had lots of member lessons which was great! We have a big emphasis in our mission of involving members in missionary work so it's always great when we can spend more time with them and get them hyped about this great work!! The work is chugging along here, little by little, and Hermana Roman and I are really giving it all! Really hoping to find some super prepared people this week:)

  • lots of meetings this week (FB, mission, content, etc) and good things are in store for the mission
  • We are still teaching Liper and Nancy and they have the best questions
  • We figured out Rastas real name is Christian haha
  • We are still cheffing it up out here!
  • Got transfer calls last night and I'm staying here with Hermana Roman #WOOHOO and were gonna be training a new missionary so that's crazy
It is really hard for kids to actually pay attention during lessons and we've tried a lot of different things to make it more fun.  This week we had some of the kids we are teaching actually teach us and it was awesome.  They had an object lesson and everything. I've never seen them so attentive!

Here's a scripture I liked from my study time this week- 3 Nephi 22:10-

"For the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed, but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee."

Te amo,

Hermana Carter

Breaking Laws Left and Right

Hola!

This week we started out on a super high- we had zone conference. Both the zones Asuncion and Asuncion North combined for the day to be spiritually fed! I learned a lot and I'm excited to apply these teachings in my area, Moroni. I'm still vibing out here in the city, but next week we have transfers so we shall see what happens. In the meantime, I love this area and I'm going to keep working hard. I would believe that just about every missionary shares my point of view in saying that I HATE being bored. I love the days where I get home exhausted because we gave everything, every second, to the Lord, so yeah. I'm going to continue giving my all to the Lord!

  • zone conference was a blast!
  • there's a store in our area with some (super expensive) imported goods. I got Reese's and my companion got a Dr. Pepper
  • rained a lot this week
  • made fajitas and they were sooo good #chef
  • tried KFC for the first time in my life #cool
  • had a lesson with Cristian after not seeing him for 5ever
Elections were yesterday (10/10) and Hermana Roman had to go home to vote, so that means we got to take a field trip.  It was crazy to leave our area, zone, and mission so that she could vote! Hermana Roman is from a city called Ñemby- that is about 40 minutes south of Asuncion in the other mission.

I talk a lottt about the love of Christ and I'm sorry if I'm redundant, I just think it's so beautiful and it literally blows my mind. His love is so perfect and profound. He died  for me, knowing I might not even want him. Knowing there was a possibility I wouldn't accept him. He still sacrificed all for me. What a love.

Arapes Con Avocados

Hola All-

I absolutely loved conference this week! I loved the common theme of love and inclusivity. At least I hope that was a common theme... I did watch it in Spanish so it could have gotten lost in translation nah jaja. I know we can all learn something from these messages than we can apply in our day to day life. I learned a ton! I feel super grateful for those inspired messages. If you haven't had the chance to watch it GO AND DO IT!!

  • I sneezed while walking and some dude in a moving car yelled salud
  • Made Sopa Paraguaya
  • Rasta came to church it was a huge breakthrough
  • I got eaten alive by mosquitoes
  • Fer is thinking about baptism so if you could keep him in your prayers that would be sweet!!!!!!
  • Liper knows how much I love apple pie so she made one for our next appointment it was so nice and SO YUMMY
  • My blow dryer starting spitting flames
  •  ^I guess I should've listened to Hermana Pendleton when she said I shouldn't use it anymore jaja
  • I ate some black beans this week and the joy I felt was just wow ahh bliss
  • BYU is 5-0 if anyone was wondering
  • Working super hard and feeling satisfaction in la obra

My friend said something that I really loved regarding conference, so I'm gonna go ahead and steal her words "God is so good and loves us so much to give us direction! This world is full of so much noise and distraction. I know I would be SO lost without this restored gospel. Especially my Savior Jesus Christ who is my rock and salvation!" Thank you Miky. I just wanna testify of my goods friends words. I don't even want to imagine where I would be without this gospel and the perfect example of my Savior. We are so blessed to live in a time where the fullness of the gospel is restored in all its glory!

 Te amo,
