Black Magic Marbles

Soooo I'm getting kicked out of Marambure and they're sending me back to the city! I'm going to an area called Lambare and I will be training a new missionary! I will be doing a thing they call "pinkwashing", in mission lingo, which means to take the Elders out of the area and put Hermanas in... it's kinda stressful and scary, but I'm excited for what's in store!!

  • Intercambios in Moroni! It was fun to go back to my stomping grounds and to see how the ward has grown!
  • One of the converts here in Marambure got married in the temple with his wife this week and invited us to come #cute
  • I have made brownies EVERY Sunday for families here the past 4 months-  that's kinda crazy
  • I told the lady who sells us chipa I'm leaving and she gave me free chipa #loveher
  • An old man stopped us in the middle of the street and asked me if I was cold and then just continued walking #legend
  • We made Milanesas (fried chicken basically) and mashed potatoes for p-day as a district - that was fun
  • We taught a lot of new people this week and that was great
  • This week we taught the plan of salvation to a family who recently lost their parents, it was so special to see them light up when I promised them that they will see their parents again!

President Nelson spoke to the youth this past Sunday and talked about our divine potential and true identities! I just wanted to share a quote I liked with you guys:

“You have the potential to reach the Celestial Kingdom [the faith’s highest heaven]. The ultimate FOMO would be missing out on the Celestial Kingdom, settling for a lesser kingdom because here on Earth you chose only to live the laws of a lesser kingdom.”

Those of you that know me, know I have severe FOMO (fear of missing out) so I'm gonna take the prophet's advice and keep working hard so that I can make it to the Celestial Kingdom! Keep doing the little things, and you can too!

So We Talkin' Smack Now??

These past two weeks have been so jam packed and I am super tired but more than anything, I'm happy! Over a year ago I read my mission call and read "Greater blessings and more joy than you have yet experienced await you as you humbly and prayerfully serve the Lord in this labor of love among His children" and I can say with total confidence that that is true! I have never felt greater joy!

  • We are teaching so many amazing people right now! I love this ward!!
  • Intercambios with Hermana Hernandez from Chile
  • Intercambios with Hermana Frota from Brazil
  • Planned some activities for the ward which were super fun
  • We had consejo de liderazgo in Asuncion and its always fun to see old friends
  • We had conferencia de zona and Hermana Buono and I gave a presentation relating the gospel to chipa #classic
  • Our friends Alexis and Ana came to church and brought there darling baby
  • I made a new friend named bah... shortly after Hermana Buono ate him as I cried
  • Benja Baez (one of the kids in our ward) left on his mission #exitos

I'm loving life here in Marambure and I just wanted to take a second to say to anyone who's not sure if they should serve a mission... do it! I was like you; I was unsure. Now I have never been so sure of something. Serving a mission was the best decision I've ever made. A prophet of God has promised "Greater blessings and more joy than you have yet experienced" and I echo that promise!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!!!

THIS IS IMPORTANT!! It's my mom's birthday today! I love her with all my heart and she is the bestest and you should all go tell her happy birthday! Okay now you can scroll down and just look at the pictures:)

  • We had a 10/10 training with all the sisters of the mission #huevos
  • Intercambios with Laurelty this week
  • We taught a little girl about conquering her fears and I talked about how I'm scared of the dark and she prayed that I would be fine walking home in the dark #cute
  • We went to a house to share the gospel and left with 7 grapefruits, 3 avocados and a new best friend
  • We had a lesson with a 93 year old man that only spoke guarani... that was interesting
  • There was a huge storm on Friday and our power went out for a day and our house legit flooded with water
  • We had consejo de zona (which is different from conferencia de zona) and it was super fun!!

We were in charge of part of the consejo de zona and did a training that helped me to realize how important it is to listen. We split the zone in two, group A went with Hermana Buono and she told them "okay you guys are going to tell your partner a story that's really important to you" and in group B, I told them "your partner is going to tell you a story and none of you are going to listen. You are going to act like it's not important." We partnered people up from groups A and B and ran the practice.  At the end we got into a group and talked about how we felt. The people from group A felt really hurt, they felt unimportant.

We were able to realize the potential we have to hurt others when we don't listen. With cell phones, social media and all the distractions in this world, sometimes we forget to listen.

Think about that friend, family member, co-worker who's such a good listener. How do they make you feel? Good? Probably. I invite you to be more like them. Try to make others feel good. Listen to what they have to say. Put away your phones. Make eye contact. Be selfless and just listen. Be good listeners and I promise you, you will make a difference in someone's life. Thanks Hannah for making a difference in mine!

SMH Alan

Happy Easter! I hope you all had a great week and found lots of eggs (full of cash money). We were go go go this semana and it's gonna be even more loco next week! This week was semana santa and los paraguyos go hard! One of their traditions is  making chipa at home! I am a BIG fan of chipa... so you could say I was pretty happy this week!

  • We met a lot of new people to teach and they are so great
  • We had so many lessons this week and ngl we walked a lot
  • We had lots of lessons about the resurrection and it was a huge testimony builder
  • The resurrection of Jesus Christ  is my favorite fact in the world. I know that He lives:)
  • I organized a musical number with a small choir 15 minutes before sacrament meeting and it turned out pretty solid.
  • Every house we visited gave us free chipa so that was awesome!
  • We had a rule in our mission that we couldn't drink mate or tereré but the rule changed #mateportodos #kindagross #ahivamos
  • We had a stake activity with all the youth and talked to them about missionary work.
  • ^It was super fun to spend time with the youth and see how excited they are to serve the Lord.
  • I just wanted to say I have the best friends and family!!! I love you all so much!!

We watched/showed the Because of Him video more times than I can count this week and I just want to invite you to take 3 minutes out of your day and watch this video (click on link above- it's only 2 min long). If you've already seen it, watch it again!! I love the message of this video and wow I love Easter! I feel so grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ and that because of Him I can start again, and not only that, but I will live again. I will never be able to express my gratitude.

I Think it's Coldplay

Buen dia! Another day, another dollar... except we don't get paid even in the slightest to be missionaries so I guess I should say another day, another... day! Still loving life out here in Luque! My new companion's name is Hermana Buono and she is from Argentina! She is an absolute maquina and I'm excited to work with her!

  • Said goodbye to Hermana Cluff and *oof* it hurt! But I'm excited for what's in store for her #mangotree
  • So many lessons this week! We are a fulllllllllll
  • Hermana Buono has dengue so that's super fun for her #athomenurse
  • Like I've said before, our area is huge and we were walking all over town this week!
  • We met some great people and I'm excited to see their progress
  • Gloria and Marcelo are thinking about getting married! Please keep them in your prayers so that they can take that step!
  • I sent a photo of my feet tan lines to my mom IN PRIVATE and she posted it on my blog for all of you! Nice! I hope you enjoyed it! (Yes- yes we did!)

Random story: We were driving home from cambios in our bolt and the driver and I were talking about about how much I love chipa and how the best chipa is from Multipan. We got into a heated discussion about the best chipa and he decided to take us to his favorite chipa place while we were going home. Homie legit bought me chipa and get this. He won. That was some of the best chipa ever! Ndeee ree calintita!!

Hey! This week is semana santa (Holy week) and it's a super special time to remember Christ! I invite all of you to remember Him this week. Remember what He sacrificed for you. Remember that He lives for you. You should live for him too. I invite all of you to GO TO CHURCH this Easter Sunday and take the sacrament and remember His atonement. Even if you haven't been to church in a while or if you have never even gone, go this Sunday and I promise you, you will feel of His spirit and you will be filled with a gratitude you haven't felt before. I am so very grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ, and for that, I will be in the chapel this Sunday! I hope you all will be there too!
